#6 : Experience with blogging

I never knew blogging before until it was introduced in my English 101 class last semester by professor Chris. I really enjoyed it last semester. It's not that I didn't take blogging seriously this semester, I just didn't put enough time to it. I took a lot of classes this semester. I fell behind in some blogs. Blogging actually helps improving your writing skills and let's you share your ideas with other readers and have an impact on them.

Blogging is also an efficient way to engage students in conversation with each other, and it makes students who are unwilling to speak up in class feel more comfortable writing their thoughts and responding to the thoughts of others in a blog or comment format.  Using blogs allows students with different learning styles to interact with the class.
I have no suggestion to professor Chris because using blogs in class is a good idea, although its a lot of writing, I can't complain since this is a writing class. I think he made an excellent job giving students engaging topics, and giving enough time for blogs grading. Its a nice technique and you should continue doing it with the coming students. I wish you all the best and good luck in your future classes. It was a good experience being in your class.

#5 Media

In the modern day, the role of media can never be overvalued. from morning to night the human mind is exposed to it.There are various forms of media but the most popular ones are print media and audio-visual media. All news papers, magazines and printed advertisements from the print media while films, radio and televisions are included in audio-visual media. In a modern society the media do not work independently because it is dominated by powerful, selfish and greedy businessmen and politicians who wish to fill human mind with stuff suitable to their mean ends.
The role of media is vital in communication of messages and information. In the present time, people are alert and wish to know what is going around the world. Besides, media is useful in communicating messages also, perhaps its best potential is exposed by the businessmen. Commercial advertising simply depends on media. From shop to shop, everything demands publicity. The market of commercial advertising is so rich that viewers at home enjoy entertaining programs and films free of cost only with the condition that commercial breaks are introduced during them.
Sometimes the media is being misused. It is being employed for spreading misinformation and confusion. Even advertising is not honest. They only show you what they want you to see. For example, when a new medicine comes out, they tell you how its going to make you good and healthy, but after three for four months, we hear that commercial with the low tone "Have you or a loved one ever taken the drug ......., please pay attention because you may be...." and it goes on. I will be like that's not what they said about that drug before. They just don't care about the drug, they care about their profits.

AE#4 : Evils of the Economic Systems

Capitalism: A love a story. A film by Michael Moore that criticizes the economic system in America. I'm not bothered about statistics and numbers, but when 1% of the population of a country not only own 90% of the wealth but also can use that wealth to directly control that country, then there is a problem there. Capitalism is a destructive cycle of borrowing, buying selling, debt and borrowing again. What is infuriating about this film was the treatment of the people at the bottom end of the economic spectrum. The film shows two families being a evicted. The message of both is delivered with a sledge hammer. Bankers are tossing out onto the streets of America poor innocent families who are victims of circumstances not of their making. The reason is just because the economic crisis caused by bankers has made it impossible for families to make the payments on those subprime loans they were tricked into taking by those same bankers. Moore suggests a solution that all society needs to do, is, strike, rally, and vote against the industries responsible for depriving them of what is considered basic American rights. Its not that his opinions are invalid or inspiring, they are, but are they enough? Moore didn't suggest how easy or difficult his solution would be. He also mentions that democracy is the solution. This solution is kind of absurd. How can we replace capitalism with democracy? Replacing an economic system with a political system is not a solution. Is democracy going to produce computers and automobiles? It just won't. The footage of the laid-off employees of the tool factory in Illinoi victory after a long battle with financial powerhouse Bank of America brings something to the table. If a factory of working-class citizens can stick it to corporate America, maybe the good guys can win in the end.

SG : Car Accidents

I came through an article about car accidents in the United States. I was shocked when I found out how many people die each year in the U.S only. I checked on the U.S. Census Bureau and I found out that the number of car accidents death in 2012 only was 34,767 deaths. I couldn't believe it, I mean that is more than the death of U.S soldiers fighting terrorists with bombs and guns in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past ten years. Imagine that's like the entire population of Monaco in Europe. The cause of accidents might be one of the stupidest things in the world. Why do you have to text while driving? Text messages can wait. Another reason for car accidents is driving under the influence. Nobody can tell you to quit drinking but when you drink; a $20 for a cab can save your life and other's lives as well. Aggressive driving can also cause car accidents. And lastll but not least, check your car regualarly. Take precautions, 34,767 deaths from car accidents is not a small number. Be careful out there and drive safely.

#3 ASU 7 1/2- week courses

http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2011/02/22/20110222arizona-state-university-shorter-classes.html
ASU has developed what is known as the 7 1/2 week course, where classes can be finished in a shorter time than the traditional fall and spring semester courses of 15 weeks. meaning, classes will be narrowed to a 7 1/2 weeks and students can graduate faster and pay less for their tuitions. Many people will be having a lot of different views on this short time courses. Some will look at the tuition fees and graduation, others will consider what they want to get out with from the class. In my opinion, there's nothing bad about this short classes, because I know there are some students out there who are fast learners and can do these classes. It's not for everyone and it's not compulsory. If you can learn those classes and get them to your head in a short time, then go ahead, ASU 7 1/2 week courses are for you. In addition if you don't have a job or have anyone to look after what would make these courses hard since your time will be on your studies only. It just needs more concentration. I compare this to a student who takes 18 credit hours and a student who takes 12 credit hours every spring and fall semester.
Who do you think will graduate faster?

Intro

Hi everyone. My name is Monjwock, I'm from a new country in Africa called South Sudan.
I'm the fifth born in a family of seven. My tribe is called Shilluk, it's the third largest tribe in my
country, we have our own king, YES OWN KING! It sounds weired to some people. I'm here at GCC doing my pre-requisite, I'm majoring in Petroleum Engineering, going to be a  production
engineer too bad no university offers my course in Arizona that's why I'll be leaving GCC next year.
I'm planning to earn my bachelor's drgree from Texas A&M University in College Station.

I like travelling a lot, I lived in four different countries, I lived Sudan, Egypt, Kenya and Uganda and I also spent some time in Ukraine Europe. I think Petroleum Enginnering is the right career for me because petroleum engineers can work in more than one country and will give me a chance to visit different countries. I'm interested in learning as many languages as I can. I speak seven different languages. I'm learning Italian now and still have a list of other languages to learn including Spanish and German. I don't know where I will be working when I graduate, so learning these languages might help me to communicate with the different people from the different places in the world.
I play basketball and soccer. and I'm a big Lakers fan, although they suck this season but I never lost hope in them. My favourite soccer team is Barcelona, I want to go to Spain just to watch them playing.
